Zipz Shoes Review

First, I want to apologize for the filthy looking shoes. I didn’t get a picture of these until after my son had been wearing them for about a month, and I haven’t had the chance to wash them yet. With that being said, he loves them and wears them every day, so that is saying something. These are Zipz shoes and my son decided on “Bandanaz” print in High Top. These shoes have a really cool feature; you can take the top off and change them out for a different cover, either in the same print, with a different shoe style, such as: Low Top, High Top, or Slip Ons. Alternatively, you could change the print. You keep the same soles and just zip on a different cover!

They have several pre-made designs, but you can also design your own, which is awesome! My son says they are comfortable, but he has an issue with his zippers. They get stuck toward the end of the zip, and refuse to move any further.

See, they just get stuck about 1/2 inch from the end. We didn’t have this problem when they were brand new, it just started happening over time. I think this is due to the fact that the zippers are plastic, and it may be fixed if Zipz ever decides to go with metal zippers instead. It isn’t a huge deal, the shoe still functions all through school and gym class and his friends seem think they are the best invention ever.

However, the zipper has a LIFETIME guarantee, so if at any time the zipper breaks, send the shoe back to them and they’ll replace the shoe. We may be at this point, but knowing that it won’t cost me anything, and certainly not having to buy a whole different pair, puts me at ease. The zipper is made by YKK Zipper Company, the world’s largest and best zipper manufacturer, even Coach uses them for their handbags!

These shoes are not waterproof, but really, what canvas shoes are? The fact that the top zips off, has nothing to do with it, but they are canvas, so yea, they will get your socks wet if you are puddle hopping. These are washable though (which I obviously need to do with my sons shoes!), you just unzip the top and throw them in the washer and dryer with the rest of your laundry, and since you don’t have the soles bouncing around all over the place, it is much quieter in the laundry room than traditional shoes.

They have a standard men’s shoe sizing, with no half sizes. This means that they use one size for EVERYONE, man or woman. Typically women sizes run about 2 sizes less than men, so if a woman wore a size 7 shoe, you would buy a Zipz size 5. They also have youth sizes 12, 13, 1, 2, 3, and 4, at this point, larger sizes would move to the adult shoes.
