Little Free Pantry and the Food Is Free Project
The Food is Free Project is a worldwide movement of people growing and sharing food freely. They encourage connecting with our neighbors by planting a front yard garden or sharing our harvest with a #foodisfree table.
Since we had some room out front, already being used for public access to free essentials in the Little Free Pantry, why not add in a garden? It just made sense! Each year, we try to improve on how to grow the best harvest in the smallest amount of space. The community is welcome to pick freely from the gardens surrounding the Blessing Boxes.
Will your community be the next #foodisfreeproject? You’re invited to plant your first seeds and join us! It’s time we reconnect with our food and meet our neighbors. Invite your friends to join the mission. Transform your own neighborhood by planting a community garden in your front yard.
The mini pantry movement is a grassroots, crowdsourced solution to immediate and local need. Whether a need for food or a need to give, mini pantries help feed neighbors, nourishing neighborhoods.
The Facebook and NextDoor groups are open to anyone local to Battle Creek, MI, USA. Please follow the public Facebook page above if you are not local, and wish to follow along.
