Ringin’ in the New Year

Ringin’ in the New Year

It's been a crazy couple of weeks. My New Years Goal (I don't like the term Resolution, lol) was to begin homesteading, even on a small scale since we don't have a lot of land to do much. I have spent the last few weeks getting things set up and it's official! This is happening! I can't remember the last time I have felt so much joy and so much drive to make sure things get done. I know that 2015 … [Read more...]

Why you should skip Black Friday, and why I’m going anyway.

Why you should skip Black Friday, and why I’m going anyway.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a repost from 2012. There are so many reasons to stay home this Friday, but let's start with the one that concerns me the most...you know, the one where people DIE so others can save a few bucks. The crowds you see above are not uncommon on Black Friday, and honestly, the prices are just as good online, if not better. Many places will be offering free shipping on the same … [Read more...]

My husband is a horrible couponer!

My husband is a horrible couponer!

It was a special Skylanders Day at Game Stop yesterday, so we made sure to be up and ready early, so we could be there for the opening, to be sure we got the ones we wanted. We brought a bunch of older games with us, and an extra Skylander's portal we had, and traded them all in for around $35 in credit. Sadly, the store did not receive their shipment of the new Skylanders, so they only had the … [Read more...]

The Stevens’ Clan

The Stevens’ Clan

I sent them to school. I shipped them off to be taught by people who don't know them, who don't love them, who won't help bring out the individual in them, and I regret it. I was a strict mother, one who had many rules, but one of those rules did not include homework. I was never a fan of homework, because in my mind, i couldn't figure out why the schools needed my kids to work for 2 to 3 hours a … [Read more...]

Boycotting stores that open on Thanksgiving? Why I won’t be.

Boycotting stores that open on Thanksgiving? Why I won’t be.

There is talks of bloggers "boycotting" stores that open on Thanksgiving, because they don't agree that they should be forcing people to take time away from their families. I am on the other end of the thought process here. Wouldn't any job that requires you to work outside of the house, be forcing you to take time away from your family? Wouldn't working there be an option, and not mandatory? … [Read more...]

Back-to-School doesn’t have to mean vaccinations!

Back-to-School doesn’t have to mean vaccinations!

Something that a few of you may know, but many may not, is that we don't vaccinate. I have 6 children, and 3 of them have never been vaccinated. The older 3 have had some vaccinations, but that was before I did my own research, back when I did whatever the doctors told me to without question. My oldest daughter, Syra, had a few vaccinations before we decided to stop them. She was under a year old … [Read more...]

Diets SUCK! I give up!

Diets SUCK! I give up!

I have tried so many different diets and I am just DONE! I have tried diets that reduce my calories, only to be told that since I normally don't eat a lot, I may be in starvation mode and I should increase my calories instead. Neither worked, so then I tried things like Nutrisystem, Shaklee, HCg, Weight Watchers....you name it. During all of it, I came to the conclusion that diets SUCK! Or, … [Read more...]

Community Groceries and FREE produce!

Community Groceries and FREE produce!

In our town, there is an event hat happens every month on the second Thursday, and it gets a LOT of attention! They call it "Mass Food" but I call it "Community Groceries" because I feel that better represents what it is. It isn't a food bank, you don't have to be low income, they don't check family size, everyone gets the same amount of groceries and the items change each time. The event … [Read more...]

Manicure of the Day – David Bowie from ChaCha Covers

These are handmade in L.A. and sold on Etsy for $6.00. you get a full set and I also got a couple cute little extras in my order. These decals are pretty easy to use, but you have to be careful. Basically, you cut out around the the decal, put it under water for a couple seconds, then peel off … [Read more...]

Manicure of the day – Kiss Acrylic Nails

Manicure of the day – Kiss Acrylic Nails

I had a bunch of ECB leftover from a CVS Shopping trip the other day, so I decided to go shopping and get some acrylic for my naked nails. It has been a week without a manicure of the day update, because frankly, I don't like my natural nails, and didn't want them plastered all over the interwebz. I figured that today would be a plain nail day for you all to see a starting point for me. … [Read more...]
