( I posted the above picture, because I love to get a glimpse of how things are made)
Ugglebo Clogs was founded in 1965 as a small, family-run factory. In a charming Swedish town just off the coast of the Baltic Sea, our founder Sven Carlsson called upon his skills and passion from years of clog making at the largest clog maker in Sweden to transform leather and wood into elegant, fashionable and comfortable clogs for men, women and children alike. He called these clogs Ugglebo Toffeln, as “Ugglebo” means owl’s nest in Swedish, and “Toffeln” is the Swedish word for clogs.
Ugglebo Brand Clogs – Making the Best Handmade Swedish Clogs and Clog Boots Since 1965.
Ugglebo Clogs’ mission is to create raving fans by making our customers’ day a little bit better – every time. We will strive to lead the market using innovation, creativity and environmentally friendly products, offered at a fair price, to fulfill our customers’ expectations of value, aesthetics and quality. We will do so with the best customer service in the footwear industry.
Ugglebo Clogs donates to the charities listed below. They launched the Re-Clog the World initiative to support the Donate Your Old Shoes mission. They will take any clogs, regardless of what brand they happen to be ( another plus is that you get 25% off your order when you send in your old clogs- seems like a win- win situation to me).
The Pink Ribbon Riders (PRR) provides financial assistance to children and adults diagnosed with breast cancer, through hosting snowmobile and many other events as their fundraisers.
Ugglebo Clogs donates clogs to the Pink Ribbon Riders every year and they will also donate $20 to the Pink Ribbon Riders for every Chukka Shearling Boot that you buy.
Now that I have told you a bit about the company, let me tell you about the wonderful pair of shoes that I will be reviewing for you today. I received the Rio Grande High, which is available in green ash and dexter tan. My clogs are in the tan color. The clogs arrived in a small box, about the size of a shoe box. At the bottom of the shipping label, is a personalized message telling you to enjoy your new clogs. The clogs are wrapped in something similar to butcher paper and tied with a ribbon. Wrapped in the ribbon is and Ugglebo key chain and a small cardboard pamphlet, with their story on one side and care instructions on the other.
- the leather feels so nice and soft
- beautiful craftmanship
- I love the sound that the shoes make when I walk in them
- love the presentation of the shoes, opening the box was an experience all by itself
- they’re expensive well made shoes (you get what you pay for)
- these will take more getting used to than a regular pair of heels, because of the wood
- they are expensive shoes ( you get what you pay for)
Being that I am new to having “great” shoes, I am one of those late bloomers who didn’t realize she wanted to be girly until I was in my late 30s, I am seeing all around me beautiful shoes that I crave. Since, Ugglebo has allowed me to review this pair I am eternally grateful for several reasons.
- I am the first of my friends/family to have these shoes
- Having had a pair of great shoes, I now know what to look for and what to expect from a great company
- I know that I won’t ever go back to just settling for the cheap pair of shoes, even though I may cringe at the price, now and again.
