Review – Minky Couture $85 value!

My favorite thing to do at night is to curl up under a blanket and read or watch tv.  With Minky Couture, you can do that in luxurious comfort.  According to the Minky Couture site the definition of minky is:

What is Minky exactly?

Minky is a special type of plush fabric that is often used to make baby blankets, baby clothing and baby accessories. Minky fabric is like fleece – but softer and thicker. The high quality of minky fabric prevents its colors from fading and its warmth from decreasing over time.

Minky Couture graciously allowed me to review one of their tween blankets. When my younger daughter found out that a blanket was coming for her, she danced around for what felt like hours. The blanket arrived wrapped in plastic and I apologize, but she was so excited that she opened it and tossed the plastic before I could get a picture. I don’t recall ever touching any kind of blanket that felt this soft. Now I know why little kids carry their blankies around everywhere, they just make you feel so comforted, no matter the situation.

The blanket that we received was collete silver in tween size. It is the perfect size for my 10 year old daughter, who is a little on the small size. I also got the seal of approval from my 14 year old when she said, ” Where’s my blanket? I want one of those too”. She said this with that pouty look on her face, you know the one that causes dads to race to get whatever they asked for, that look. So I guess, we’ll be ordering several of these at Christmas, because honestly I want one for myself too.

Minky blankets come in several sizes; mini (10″ x 18″),infant (36″ x 30″), tween (36″ x 50″) , adult (50″ x 60″), monster (60″ x 72″). All of the sizes can be customized as well.  As for washing the minkys, they had this to say:

Minkys are specially made to be durable enough for the washing machine. Not only do they wash easily, but they also come out just as soft as they were the first time you felt them. No one likes a blanket that loses its special soft touch after one wash. In fact, most of us avoid washing soft things because we’re afraid the days of having a soft blanket, sweatshirt, or pillow will end once we clean them. We don’t want this to happen to you. We know toddlers will drag them along the ground, 6 year olds will take them out for a picnic, and the rest of us will wrap up in them every time we want to relax. We planned for this. We also know what a pain it is to have to take anything to the dry cleaners. Leave the easily – cleanable design to us, and we’ll leave the “hurry–and–wash–it–before–she–notices–it’s–gone” part to you.

I already have a list of people that I need to get blankets for and my name is at the top of the list.
